As you probably know, my over-achieving, easily bored little sister, M, has been grounded. Banned from her keyboard.  Ouch. I was feeling pretty sorry for her, but then my dad pointed out that now that I am in high school and have Class President responsibilities, maybe I should “dial back” my posting schedule, too. That made me really mad.

But, the truth is I am really busy and more than a little stressed. And now that I have a date for the Valentine Dance this Friday, my life is getting really complicated. So I talked this whole idea of a bloggy break over with Mac; she’s kinda in the same boat.

So, I’m thinking we won’t be posting regularly for the next few weeks. It’s not like we’re dropping off the end of the earth or anything. We’ll be reading the boards every day and will probably jot a quick post every now and then. Just don’t expect regular updates from Bell Flower Farm.

Hey, summer will be here soon! Can’t wait.

It’s here, iHorseClub sisters. February. The weirdest month of the entire school year.  My bff, Claire, describes it like this: February is when we find ourselves suddenly compelled to be the Valentine of some guy we’ve secretly had a crush on since the day school started - or last Thursday, whichever is longer.

LOL Claire has a way with words.

Next Friday night is the Hearts & Flowers Valentine Dance at Marshall Scully High. UGH. I have never gone to the dance before. However, I’m a sophomore now and Class President, too, so I am expected to be there. With a date. Oh yeah.  Three guys asked me to go all during lunch yesterday - one by text message, one by email and one actually worked up the nerve to ask me in person!

I am going to the dance with Spencer Brown, the same Spencer Brown who got me a Christmas present. Zoey says he likes me, but I’m not so sure. And I really don’t want my head to get all confused wondering what he’s up to. Who has time for that?

Claire is going to the dance with A.J. Martin. He’s a musician. Plays drums. Zoey is going with Felix Bruce. How do I describe Fletcher… he’s a loveable geek.  I know that in the big scheme of things this dance is just a footnote, but we are really looking forward to it!  Claire, Zoey and I are going shopping this weekend, for - you guessed it - something to wear to the dance.

Wish us luck! (Any wardrobe suggestions would be appreciated, too!)

Congratulations!
Posted by Brea at 2:25 pm in iHorseClub

I just wanted to say Congratulations to TWO iHorseClub members. First, to Sabrina, for being chosen GRAND PRIZE WINNER in the big iHorseClub Video Contest.

CodyMyPaintHorse was picked to win Caron’s Winter Tips Quiz over the weekend, too!  Way to go!

As for me, I won something this week, but it wasn’t nearly as exciting. I was given the “Cleanest Locker Award” in gym class. No, there is no prize for this illustrious honor. It just means that I didn’t leave my stinky socks in the locker room all weekend. Just thought you’d like to know.

January’s almost over, so hang in there!

Video Contest Update
Posted by Brea at 2:30 pm in iHorseClub

Newsflash:  I just ran into Caron going into iHorseClub Headquarters. She was carrying 3 pizzas and 2 boxes of microwave popcorn. Apparently, the gang at headquarters is reviewing the 3 finalist videos tonight in the big iHorseClub Video Contest!

I told M; she’s calling Patty every five minutes for a scoop!  LOL Poor Patty!  Looks like we’re gonna have a winner tomorrow!

Good Luck Everyone!

How Many Days Until February?
Posted by Brea at 2:22 pm in Classmates

Wow. Seems everyonhe I know has The January Funk. You know what that is - too busy with work, not enough fun, not enough sun and not enough play. Part of my job, as Freshman Class President, is to be a cheerleader for my classmates. So, I have a message for everyone who feels like they are getting squished by the big January Street Boulder. This is one of my very favorite quotes from the Harry Potter movies.

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one remembers to turn on the light.” - Albus Dumbledore, spoken in The Prisoner of Azkaban

Hey, do you have a favorite movie or movie quote?  Share ‘em here on on my spot on the Forum!

Hey Patty & Caron -
Posted by Brea at 11:56 am in iHorseClub

Hope you had LOTS of fun at Yarn Camp!  M and I will drop by headquarters later today to see all the stuff you made. :)

Okay, back to my post -

For all of you who get SAD in winter - like M - take heart. We’ve made it through another week of winter! The days ARE getting longer; have you noticed?  And we’ve scratched one more week of classes off this school year!

Yesterday I was sitting in class, bored out of my mind,  and I decided it would be fun to start writing on the Forum, too!  Mac suggested that when we first began iHorseClub last summer, but I wanted to see if I could keep up with blogging first.

So, last night I set up a little catagory on the Forum for Mac, M and me - who knows, Bella, Clair and Zoey might decide to join us! I think that would be fun.  So go on over and check it out.  And PLZ comment!!!

Yarn Camp Update!
Posted by Brea at 6:51 pm in iHorseClub

Hey! Hope you’re having a good week :) I found an email from Patty when I got home from school today. She and Caron are having a great time at Yarn Camp… or whatever it’s called. Patty is working on a doggie sweater for Libby. I believe Caron is teaching a class on sheering llamas.  Go Caron!  I wrote back and asked them to answer a few Member Questions we’ve received at headquarters:

Q:  Do you have games at Yarn Camp?

A: (From Patty) No games, but we do make hot chocolate in the evenings and sometimes tell scary stories while we knit or spin.

Q:  Are you and Caron sleeping in tents?

A:  (From Caron) No tents, just a snug bunkhouse.  Oh, there’s indoor plumbing, too.  FYI: Patty snores.

Q:  Does Yarn Camp have a mascot or a camp song?

A:  (From Patty) The Camp’s mascot is a Coopworth Sheep named Charlotte. I don’t know about the song… I’l ask around.

Q: What’s your favorite part of camp?

A:  (From Caron) That’s easy. Meeting other people who love fiber arts as much as Patty and I do! Hello to all our iHorseClub Friends! We’ll be back this weekend!

P.S. That is NOT a picture of Patty and Caron. LOL I just thought it was funny. :)

Caron’s Quiz
Posted by Brea at 2:01 pm in iHorseClub

This is a baby Puffer Fish. It has absolutely nothing to do with this post; I just thought it was cute. I found it on the first day of Summer Vacation last year. Zoey took the pic. Thought you’d like to see it. Ya know, summer will be here before you know it!

Okay, now on to the point of this post. M posted Caron’s Quiz over on her blog yesterday and asked me to remind everyone that you still have plenty of time to enter the contest. It’s really easy. Won’t take more than 10 minutes or so. AND it’s FUN!

Oh yeah, there is a prize, too.

Okay, you’ve seen the baby puffer fish. Now, go take the quiz.

:) :) :)

That’s kinda how I feel today. School’s going okay…  Leo is the best horse I’ve ever known… I love my home… and my family (mostly)… so I’m feeling pretty good. On the other hand -

Poor little M is really bummed out about school. She doesn’t want to go back. I can’t really blame her. Being 9 is not fun. I remember.

Claire’s mom is thinking about moving Claire back to New York later this month. She is between jobs at the moment and it would be cheaper for her to go to public school there. That would mean that she’d leave Ryker here and wouldn’t see him for a month or so!  Claire is really bummed. Nothing is set in stone yet, so I’m keeping a positive thought.

Zoey is helping her mom at the shop every weekend because her mom needs help but can’t really afford to hire an employee.

Sky’s aunt is starting to balk at all the time Sky is spending here at Bell Flower Farm. Sky is happy here. I don’t know why she can’t leave her alone.

Mac has cabin fever. Happens every winter. Mac isn’t one to be couped up inside for very long. I haven’t heard her say anything about that rock hound guy she met, either. I’ll have to ask her about that.

There’s a lot of talk about the economy and how it will effect Moon Shell Beach in the tourist season - which doesn’t even start until April! I wish people would stop worrying so much!

So, how is it where you live? And are you staying “sunny?”

A reporter from the Moon Shell Beach Beacon showed up at school today and wanted to interview me about the sock thing. I told her all about Mac’s observation and how almost everyone I knew got socks for Christmas this year.

You know what she did? She borrowed one of the pics I took. (This is the shot) She’s writing a story for the Beacon! It’ll be in Friday’s paper!

Just goes to show you how reaaaaallly small Moon Shell Beach is.
